Here is what we have been up to in 2014 so far – for more on these events see the relevant blog posts:
1st February 2014 – Cabaret Arabia, Leeds – a charity hafla for Debra UK, organised by Nawarra.
Going back a bit further, here is a little bit of history…….
We have danced at Heeley Festival every year since 2006 and we also danced at the Green Fair every year until 2012 (in 2013 we had to miss it due to already having 3 bookings on that day!). We first danced at Stannington Carnival in 2009, returning every year since and we have also danced at least once a year at the Netheredge Farmers Market for the last few years, too. It looks like the Sunfest beer festival is also becoming a regular event now – we danced there in 2012 and 2013 and we will be back there again this year. These are all great community events with a lovely atmosphere and enthusiastic audience.
We have taken part in the open stage at Gothla for the last 5 years – this event is a festival of gothic bellydance and the open stage lets us showcase our darker/rockier material. It also encourages us to up our game as the calibre of performance (and dancers in the audience) there is pretty awesome.
Over the years we have also taken part in; Other Sheffield community events such Rivelin allotments open days and Millhouses park festival, Bakewell Day of Dance, a Valentine’s day event at Meadowhall shopping centre, club nights with Razor Stiletto and Planet Zogg, the Beatherder and Washstock festivals and the ‘Under the Stars’ stage at the Tramlines festival (where we also got on stage with Oojami later in the day, but that was unofficial), entertaining a beer tent full of battle re-enactors at Sheffield Fayre, Halloween events and the Bram Stoker film festival (Zombie bellydancers!), several Burlesque and Cabaret shows, weddings and birthday parties.
We have also danced at a dance festival at Rufford Abbey, at Chance to Dance in Sheffield city centre and we have twice taught workshops and performed in the teachers showcase at Jewel of Yorkshire.
